Patagon Journal announces the launch of its 4th Patagonia Photo Contest, now open for submissions!
The contest, which is open to amateurs and professionals, celebrates the immense beauty of the natural and cultural patrimony of the Patagonia region of Chile and Argentina through the eyes of photographers from around the world.
Each participant can submit up to two images in each of the four categories: Nature, Environment, Travel & Culture, and Outdoor Sports. This year, the Environment category has a special focus on the national parks of Patagonia, honoring the incredible work being done to preserve these wild places for future generations.
The submission deadline is November 5th, 2018.
Each year, the Patagonia Photo Contest is judged by some of the world's most distinguished photographers who work regularly in the region, and this year is no exception. This version of the contest includes a jury headlined by the extraordinary outdoor, adventure and surf photographer Chris Burkard, one of the world's most renowned photographers. Based in California, among other things, he works regularly on global campaigns for corporate clients such as Apple, Nikon, Toyota, and Patagonia, has published seven books, and recently directed and filmed the acclaimed documentary Under an Arctic Sky.
The jury also includes Argentine Jorge Cazenave, a leading wildlife photographer for more than three decades in South America; environmental photographer and documentary filmmaker Bridget Besaw, who has won numerous awards for her photos in publications such as Time, Forbes, Fortune, and the New York Times; Jean Paul de la Harpe, one of Chile's most prolific nature photographers and founder of Chile Indomito, a digital magazine about Chilean nature; and Pablo Valenzuela Vaillant, who has been photographing Chile’s natural and cultural heritage since the early 1990s, publishing more than a dozen photo books, including several about Patagonia.
