The old saying, “If you rush in Patagonia, you’re wasting your time,” certainly rang true this year. We needed extra time to carefully select the 10 finalists in each category.
This seventh edition of the Patagonia Photo Contest featured once again categories including Wildlife, Landscapes, Outdoor Adventure, Travel and Culture, and the special “Last Wild Places” category. In this latter category, photographers could submit images from anywhere in the world that reflect the urgent need to conserve, protect, and restore the planet’s last wild places.
Selecting just ten photos per category was incredibly challenging, and we reviewed our choices repeatedly. Ultimately, we believe these 50 finalists capture the essence of the contest—not just as stunning images, but as stories that will stand the test of time.
Now you can help your favorite photo win the "Reader’s Choice Award.” The winner will enjoy a 5-night, 6-day trip for two with Cruce Andino, cruising across three Patagonian Andean lakes, on a route stretching from Puerto Varas, Chile, to Bariloche, Argentina. The prize includes two nights at Hotel Bellavista (Puerto Varas), a visit to the hot springs at Termas de Cochamó, one night’s stay and an excursion at Hotel Natura Peulla, and two nights at Hotel Tres Reyes in Bariloche.
You may vote for different photos each day, but only one vote per day is allowed. The voting period will run through April 30th, ending at 11:59 p.m. (Chile time).
Meanwhile, our expert panel of judges—Juanita Ringeling, Andel Paulmann, Pablo García Borboroglú, Eliseo Miciu, Cristian Larrere, Nicolás Gantz, and Guy Wenborne—will select the first and second place winners in each category, as well as honorable mentions.
They will also determine the Patagonia Photographer of the Year, awarded to the overall winner selected from the first-place winners of the four Patagonia-focused categories.
Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy these fantastic photographs and vote for your favorite.
In May, an awards ceremony will be held in Santiago, Chile, alongside the launch of an exhibition featuring the winning photos.
