A friend from the U.S., Andy Jackson, sent the above photo the other day. Its from the TwitPic account of Colonel Douglas Wheelock, the American astronaut who goes by
@Astro_Wheels on" target="_blank">http://twitter.com/#!/Astro_Wheels">@Astro_Wheels on Twitter and is the head of the International Space Station. Wheelock regularly Twitters images of Earth taken from space. The photo here is of Patagonia, and it was accompanied by this passionate quote from Wheelock expressing a deep yearning for Patagonia:
"At the southern end of South America lies the jewel of Patagonia. The awe-inspiring beauty of rugged mountains, massive glaciers, fjords, and the open sea collide in a breathtaking display. I have dreams of this place and wonder what it would be like to breathe this air. Pure majesty."
Awe-inspring beauty, indeed. We´re fortunate to have Patagonia, and Patagon Journal aims to describe and show as best we can this incredible region in the coming year. Moreso, we want to continue to support and highlight efforts to ensure Patagonia is protected for the love and enjoyment of present and future generations.
Thanks for your support of our efforts in 2010 and best wishes in the next year.
